Im heading to Dubai for 3 days and figured I may as well pick up a Lens.

Just curious what kind of prices to expect there?

Gonna grab either a Canon 100-400, or a Sigma 100-500.

Thanks.

At the airport duty free, electronics (including photo gear) is more expensive compared to US. I am not sure how it is in the city.

Angry Dad

Normally, it is more expensive here in Dubai compared to US, however there are shops who offer cheaper prices than bigger shops like Al Falak and Micro in Deira City Centre. Not sure if you can find your way to a shop which is not inside the shopping centre. The shop is called Perfecta and it is located in Al Fahidi St., Bur Dubai.

Hope that helps.

By the way, Sigma lenses here can be cheaper than in US. You just need to use your bargaining prowess. :)

Arnold,
Thanks for the help. My wife's cousins stay there, so as long as I can give them an address, I think we can make time to head over there. Im really happy to hear Sigma is cheaper. Is this stuff original? Dont want to get burned on something I cant take back.
Thanks!

Shoturtle,
Thanks for the advise, but I really have no other option to buy gear where I live. If I dont get anything on this trip it will be about 6 more months before I return to the States. :(

Of course original stuff. Don't worry, the stores/shop I have recommended are well known here (at least to those who have interest in photography :)).

Good luck.
