Hello all,I just got my new cactus V5 in today and they work great.Im getting used to the manual alittle better now.Highly recommend these for anyone on a budget looking for wireless triggers without ETTL.

My main question is this.Using my rebel xsi along with a 580 exii ,can i shoot ettl by adding a 430 slave flash?I dont think my 450 xsi comes with wireless setup in the body. But i know the 580 controls the 430 wirelessly, well i think it does.

Got a chance to pickup a 430 cheaper than buying a true ettl wireless trigger and need to make sure im not wasting my money even thou the extra flash could be nice to have.

Thanks

You can use the Canon 580 EX II as a master on the camera to control the 430EX in ETTL mode off camera. The 580EX has to be in master mode and the 430EX in slave mode. It is subject to the limitations of line of site out doors and a bit better indoors.

And you are correct, your camera does not have ETTL master capability built in.

Thanks Titus for your reply.Bonus question,If you were buying a new crop body sometime down the road ,what camera would you buy that would be worth the money?Im not into video on a camera thou thats cool as well. Most people here say upgrade your glass first, which im in the process of little by little.

Wireless -fast shutter- better overall than the rebel.I love my rebel but its my starter body for now.

Thanks for any and all input even thou this is a flash thread.Kinda of testing the winds.
Peace

I just bought a 7D for my soccer photos. I wanted the speed, the high ISO capability, and the image crop ability.

Yea ive been checking out the 70d.Looks like a awesome camera.Kinda of pricey for me but i can always save my nickels an dimes.Great soccer pics.Im guessing they were with the 70d.But what glass on the body?Action shots like those have to be at a high shutter. How high does the 70d go/what did you use for shutter on those pics?

Thanks

Thanks ReDDoG -

Shutter speed isn't really an issue with any of the Canon DSLR line - they all have 1/8000 I believe (don't know about the 1D series), but the 8 frames/second helps on the 7D. The other big feature on the 7D is the focus system which is excellent. It's fast and has more options than you can imagine. I generally try to keep the shutter speed above 1/1000 and around here that can mean some higher ISO since the lens I'm using is an f5.6 at 400mm.

That lens is not optimal but seems to work and it''s what I had - 70-200/2.8 IS with a 2X extender. The images are a bit soft but sharpen up pretty well.

And the body is on sale right now....
