I finally got a chance to take my new 500mm on the road and get some shots. Lots to learn on this new lens. The sweet spot is definitely smaller than f5.0. I think a higher ISO and higher aperture would result in sharper images. And closer too. Anyways some eagle shots for your C&C. Thx for looking!

Nice series of shots and they look sharp! # 2 & # 4 are sweet.
I agree about the Av - as I have the same setup and but need a pod to get them sharp.

Was surprised to learn that, too. There are plenty in my area including a nesting pair with youngsters. Very hard to photograph here so am jealous of anyone who gets such great shots of these birds. (Utter lens envy for anyone with a 500 L f/4 IS!)
