Will a Mic help reduce the IS noise?

Having done a bit of nature video now, for fun, I can see that none of the audio I capture is of any use. AF noise, IS noise and me breathing all mean I will need a music track over the audio. Will an external (on camera) mic help? I was looking at the Rode video mics.

Yes, it will kill the is and most of the focus noise. Spring for the VideoMic Pro if you can, it seems to be built better on top of sounding better

The reason the new pro version is better is because it has +20 gain so that it eliminates the hiss from the auto gain feature in dslr's.

I was going to ask, but it also looks smaller and more compact than the older model.
