I have recently sold my 7D but will keep my 5D II as I love the camera but I have been thinking of buying a 2nd body, either wait to see what Canon comes out with to replace the 7D or go straight for the Pentax K-5 as I like Pentax also,, but what gets me is Canon has come out with what 3 new bodies all with the same sensor as 7D, how come they haven't did anything with it so they can compete with these Nikon or Pentax sensors? I don't really give a rats ass about what they do for video I never use it anyway, I have a gut feeling that the 7D II and 5D III will have the same sensor as they have now.

Canon 5D III, EF 24-105 f4, EF 16-35 2.8 L II, EF 70-200 2.8 IS L II, EF 100 2.8 IS L, EF 2x III, EF 1.4x III, 500D 77mm close up filter, Kenko extension tubes set, SpeedLight 600 EX RT, Metz 58 AF-2, Pixel Kings, Benro C3780T Tripod, Benro G3 Ball Head.

What makes you think that the 7D's sensor doesn't compete with similar Nikon or Pentax sensors?

I seriously doubt they'd use the same sensor in the 5diii but if they did and literally just used the 7D's AF on the 5dii and rebadged it a 5diii then I'd be happy.

When has canon introducted a MK II anything that had the same sensor as the MKI?

Well I for one would not mind the sensor's being the same in the next model as long as they are able to AF better, if the camera can shoot higher ISO's with a reduction in noise. The 5D Mark II and the 7D sensors are fine as far as I'm concerned. I don't need to print bigger than 16 x 20, so both of the cameras are fine. I would just like to see improvements in other areas of the cameras instead of making bigger and bigger sensors.

Yes I would be happy also but do want a crop for the extra reach;)

7D's AF was great I think, but I really dought I will go for Pentax it was just a thought, besides there is no more room for different lenses;)

If you sold a camera you had to upgrade to a camera that is not only not available, but not even announced yet, then its likely you will never be satisfied.

It competes perfectly with similar Nikon and Pentax sensors.

Just they have crop sensor's two generations newer that match Canon's flagship full-frame model, and top the 1DIV for AF while they're at it. For ~1500$.

Well I really don't think it will compete with FF cameras.
