I make less than 18k/year but own $5000 worth of equipments but I'm no pro or earn money with photography...

Checkout the classifieds section and see how much they are selling for!

Hmm.. I'm wondering who the three folks got theirs for less than $1500 and one for less than $500. If someone has a legitimate link to a $500 MkII I'd like to see it.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Lol, I almost clicked the $500 mark just because the option was there and I don't even own one.

There is nothing wrong with owning expensive camera gear - even if you don't make money from photography.

Heck, maybe you can start shooting "along the side" for people? Start with friends for free for example. I wouldn't recommend selling your camera gear unless you actually need the money or need something "better".

Additionally, you need to consider that a camera like the 5D MK II will easily last for years unless you get unlucky (excluding shutter failure which isn't that expensive to fix in relative terms).

Thats what I would think. Either that or someone bought one off the back of a truck.

I paid $2449 I was able to use my ups discount and that was in Jan. After I bought the camera. I did 3 weddings and Have 3 more this year. All booked after I bought this camera. It's not about how much you paid its about are you happy with what you bought with no regrets!

I almost bought one locally for full price earlier today, so I am very interested in this refurb price.

I bought mine used. Like new, only 3 weeks old w/box, etc., and receipt from Best buy to prove it. With it I got a 50mm 1.8 lens, Slik tripod with a Manfrotto ball head, Epson P-3000 viewer,2-32" lite disc reflectors, a Canon RS-80N3 remote switch, 16 GB compact flash, and a 14" Photovision calibration target. $2100 Total
Did I do okay?

I just happened to be browsing the net searching for any discount that would seal the deal for me versus new. A gentlemen at Canon told me to do so before ordering after I was tipped of by another thread on here that I could save 10%. I googled "canon refurbished dslr 10% off" and THIS (external link) was the third result, and gives the coupon code to enter when checking out. It's also the hot topic of discussion right now in the "Marketplace" section. Hope this helps!

Brandon

nozlep, there is until midnight March 14 a 10% discount on the refurbished Canon 5dmkII camera when you use the code "FAM211", however you must also remember to add the appropriate percentage of state sales tax to your purchase. I live in California and we get ripped to the amount of 9.25% for state sales tax. Just something to take into consideration so you get the whole story on your purchase. Good luck, glenphoto
