Hey, Im looking to get a strobe setup for automotive photography.

Ive been thinking about doing 2 Alien Bee B800s? Would you guys recommend that? Or are there any other great options out there.

Also what all is needed to get a setup like that to work with your camera?

It depends. What type of car shots are you looking to do? How will the photos be used?

Ya I would like to get 3 but i might have to make do with 2 for a little while. I would be doing a mix of different types of shots, not sure what you mean by that.

I will be doing shoots out doors so I would most likely get the portable power supply off the alien bees website. What is the best transponder setup to get with these?

You will need a set of wireless triggers. The RF-602's have been touted as good and reasonable. Personally, I have used the EL Skyports and Cybersync's to trigger my Alien Bees. 39 basketball games in the last two weeks using the Cybersyncs and two AB 1600's. One CST transmitter and one CSRB receiver for each strobe.

2-3 B800's
1 Vagabond II or Mini Lithium
2-3 light stands (prefer heavy duty, regular ones should work though.. since u will most likely be shooting bare.)
3-4 triggers.. RF-602(or RF-603's thats supposedly coming out), or cactus v5's
