I've shot Sebring before, but it was back in 2009 and I only had a Sigma 28-105.

I'm going back this year and need some help deciding what equipment to rent.

I'll be taking my 70-200 2.8, but was planning on renting a 100-400 as well. I like having versatility and don't like switching lenses, but this is where I'm having trouble.

I'm wanting to get more than just panning shots. I want to be able to get the cars pretty much full-frame coming through turns 3 and 17. Am I better off renting a 2x or a 1.4x for the 70-200 and also rent a 500? Or should I just get the 100-400 and call it a day? I would rather not have to crop my photos.

I figured that with the teleconverter I would essentially have three lenses to play with. But, I've never used one before and don't know what kind of results to expect.

Ended up going with the 500 and the 1.4x teleconverter. I'll post results for reference.

Thanks for the help...

The 500 should be killer. I shot a lot of turn 3 & 4 last year with a 400 + 1.4 on a Mk III.

Shooting inside turn 9 looking into 8 you can get some decent shots. I carry a two-step plastic ladder to look over the barriers.
