this was our last home game and since im not able to follow our team out to south Carolina i tried a lot of new things last night mainly a higher shutter speed. i tried going up to 1/640 but i felt like with the noise it was producing and the images not being perfectly in focus every since time or very sharp at f2 i went down to 1/500 which is an upgrade from what i normally shot in the past which was 400
i was not as happy with the photos i got last night than i have got in the past. i think it was because there just was not as much action under the basket as the final score was 90-48.
some of these were accidentally shot at 1.8 because of the wheel on the back of the 7d i now realize that i can use the lock switch so i dont change fStop on accident while shooting. i intended to shoot them at f2
settings: f2 (sometimes f1.8) 1/500 ISO 2500

) because i was shooting jpeg. i didnt want to lose too much sharpness due to focus not being perfect with that 50/1.8 but im seriously looking into that 1.4 in hopes that it will be a little cleaner and just overall a better performing lens for shots like these as well as occasion portraits. also looking into the 135L but im not sure how i would use it for basketball as much as other sports and video work
