I have just bought the EOS 60D and would like to use the wireless transmitter available in this camera to set up a home studio. I have a Nissin Di622 speedlite flash and also an old Minolta independent flash unit. I have three tripods and would like to set these 2 flashes up with my camera on the third tripod but I don't know the exact schematics and what remote wireless receivers etc to buy to enable me to use them. I know I can use the pop up flash on my camera to use the speedlite remote setting but I didn't want to use the camera flash or indeed this method. I want more subtly arranged remote flash lighting if possible. Basically can I achieve this with what I have got?

If you don't want to use the canon wireless system, your best bet is to purchase an inexpensive set of wireless triggers like the RF602's available on ebay or amazon. The update, RF603's, should be available soon. These are perhaps the most reliable of the inexpensive triggers. Another brand is the cactus V5's. You will need one trigger for your camera, and one receiver for each flash. You will need a swivel (sometimes called umbrella) bracket to connect the flash to the tripods. Ideally you will want light stands instead of tripods. www.flashzebra.com (external link) has a ice bracket at a good price.

I'm afraid that it won't be possible with the current flashes that you have..... You'll need a Canon E-TTL compatible Flash System such as these:

•Canon 550EX Flashes
•Canon 420EX Flashes
•Canon 430EX Flashes
•Canon 580EX I Flashes
•Canon 430EX II Flashes
•Canon 580EX II Flashes

Then you'll be able to set the Pop-Up Flash on your 60D as the Master Flash and use as well as control the others as Slaves Flashes..... I do also beleive that there are some Third-Party Flashes that may work with the Canon E-TTL System, but you'll have to do the research on it because I can not POSITIVELY confirm this. They are the Sigma's and YongNuo.....

Good Luck!
