I saw the LaCie. I was quoting you just when you changed it and updated your original post, lol. The quote failed but my post went through. :)

It comes down to those two choices. For some reason i feel limited by the time capsule. As if im putting all my eggs into one basket. Hate that feeling.

These options im presenting offer more flexibility it seems to me. With the option for drive expansion, which the time capsule cant do.

However, the time capsule is an all in one option with dual band wifi which is a big plus.

Hmmm i wonder what others think here.

I'll go against Nick and say Synology! But what do I know?

If it was me, I would trust Nick more when it comes to these things, lol.

 Its only a 3 block walk to the apple store.

What do you think Nick. Should i get the airport extreme or stay with my current wireless router and hook up the Lacie to it?

This is the router i have now:

No, I have a macbook and I used to have an iphone. I'm not Bill :p

Honestly, I'd stick with the router you have, heck if you have issues with it then go ahead and buy the airport extreme, but there is no point in spending that money when it most likely will not benefit you (unless there is a feature you want that the airport extreme provides).

Also, I suggest the Lacie because I have experience with quite a few Lacie drives here at work, I have none with synology.

On a different note, if you notice on the Lacie there are two flat head screws that keep that harddrives in... those are the situations where the flathead screw is perfect, anywhere else and someone is trying to torture you. ;)

Yeah, I always check the items on the bill. If they forgot to add something that we ordered, I don't say a thing. If they charged us for something we didn't order, I bring it to their attention. But I guess everyone does this.

heehehe guilty

Good to know. So let me pick your brain further. When i hook up this Lacie to the router it should pop up as a detected option on my computer? Im assuming this is how it would work as ive never setup a NAS to begin with.
