Who uses 'em, and what's your experience like?
In my case, I have a buddy who uses the Canon 24-70 F2.8L on a crop body and it astounds me that people would pay so much for a lens that doesn't even provide a proper wide angle.

What do you use for Wide Angle though? 17-55mm F2.8 IS if I need really wide angle. At some point here I'm sure I'll buy a ultrawide angle...fast prime took higher priority. Please visit my Flickr

It's commonly quoted on the 7D threads that soft images are the result of substandard lenses--but the other bodies that share the same sensor just don't have the problem. I shoot models, mostly. I find it hard to be on location somewhere with a lens that has too much reach. My 70-200 is perfect for most of my shoots, IMO. On a crop body, I'd have to stand kilometres away before I could capture the whole body of my model. I shoot a little of everything. But my 100L is mostly used for wildlife and macro type stuff, so a little extra reach is actually very helpful. dave kadolph wrote in post #11956835 It's commonly quoted on the 7D threads that soft images are the result of substandard lenses--but the other bodies that share the same sensor just don't have the problem. ![]() Aha. I figured you were joking. Last time I checked it was just as big and heavy on full frame or 1.3x. dave kadolph wrote in post #11956835 It's commonly quoted on the 7D threads that soft images are the result of substandard lenses--but the other bodies that share the same sensor just don't have the problem. ![]() Most of the soft images from a 7D are caused by the user not knowing how to use the new AF system. Have you thought that not everybody needs a "wide angle"? For some, the 24-70 on crop is perfect. SOSKIphoto
