EXIF Distance Reporting

Hi

I just realised that shots taken by my 28-70 f2.8L and my Sigma 15-30 f3.5-4.5 did not have subject distance in the EXIF info. I have taken thousands of shots with each and today's the first time i noticed the omission :P

I can understand if the Sigma doesn't report distances, as it's a third party lens, but how about the 28-70? Even my 28-135 reports subject distance faithfully, whether it's a focus to infinity, or within the distances in the distance scale of the lens. I have used the 70-200 f2.8L before and can verify that it does report subject distance, so the 28-70's omission is a bit of a mystery to me.

I want to find out if it's normal for the 28-70, or the Sigma 15-30, not to report subject distances in the EXIF. Any comments / help would be appreciated. thanks!
