Hey there everyone! I have been using Lightroom 3 for about a month now. I am starting to get familiar with the interface. I always like to play with the preset and find it to be very creative and useful. I am wondering if other people here use the presets often? Do you guys use it as a first step? Do you guys ever become satisfied with the image after applying to preset?

I don't use the presets that often, because I find most of them unsuitable for the look I am trying to get - a lot of them are "aimed" at the studio photographer or those looking for a more artsy feel to their images, thus I don't find them all that useful for the most part. Having said that, I should probably use them more often and then customize them for my own use, as I am very seldom satisfied with the first application of a preset. If you use them and find them useful, then that is really all that counts.

Cheers,

WesternGuy

Only use the ones I made myself. Lot of the "pre canned" presets also alter exposure for instance, which is bad policy IMO.
I create my presets to only adjust specific settings.
