I can't imagine this will catch on as a sport...

Last weekend I was up a rise and back a bit taking photos of a couple in front of a nice landscape. I was holding a D700/24-70, with a D700/16-35 at my feet. I heard a shout, and turned to watch the camera at my feet start a slow motion slide/roll about four meters down the slope. It finished with a half meter drop.

Here's where my camera rolled from.

Here are pics of the marks on the camera (the grip really).

My assistant picked it up, dusted it off, took a few pics and handed it back to me. I took a few more and checked them, and it worked perfectly! There are no marks on the lens or lens hood at all. The 16-35's a tank! So are the D700s!

I might send them for a checkup some time, and I quite like that I don't have pristine equipment that makes me look like a beginner!

Niiiice! Good to know gear can take a nice beating and still survive to see another day. I once dropped a lens down three flights of stairs and it came out unharmed except the rear cap was a bit scratched up.
