I am shooting 300 couples portraits tonight at a fundraiser. These need to be uploaded to my smugmug site by 5 tomorrow so each couple may purchase an 8 x 10. What size ( dpi and pixel size and jpeg quality) is the minimum i can go to get a good print? My concern is moving all these files online in a timely basis. Thanks.

An "optimal" print quality is considered 300 ppi (pixels per inch), although you can get by with less. So, thing of 300 ppi, which would be (8x300)x(10x300) or 2400x3000 pixels as being best.

Bear in mind that you will want to crop the images to the proper 8x10 format/aspect ratio to control the proportions of the print, or alternatively you can leave it up to the clients, by posting an 8x12 image, that is 2400x3600 pixels.

3000 pixel, Q8. 8x10 isn't a great size unless you're careful not to use the edges of the frame.
