It's already been said, the T2i along with all the other 18MP sensor cameras Canon has to offer can achieve the same IQ if all were using the same lens. Lens is way more important IMO but if you have the extra cash and want to upgrade to the 60D I also don't see anything wrong with the idea but don't do it thinking you'll get better IQ.

I also have the T2i and I have though about the same but when it all comes down to it, I don't do this for a living, is more of a hobby than anything else, I do shoot portraits for people every now and then but for that, there's nothing the 60D can do better for me so I stick with the T2i until it doesn't do what I need it to do.

You also have to realize that most people that buy Rebels don't buy high quality lens until they upgrade, while most people that buy a 7D or a 5D are most often than not, experience users that know they need good glass in order to achieve great IQ so they spend the money and the images speak for themselves.

It's true that the lens is more important than the body, but sometimes that doesn't hold true. Every once in a while you'll hit it with the kit lenses (or lower-grade lenses).

The other day I took a photo of a student (can't post it online) that I was really happy with. I did a double take when processing the raw file and thought, "that must have been with the 100-400L I rented) but it turned out to be the 55-250. Got lucky.

Thank you. bw!

The only reason I see to go to the 60D is if the size of the t2i is getting on your nerves. For me, that would be a viable reason, but I would skip the 60D and go to the 7D.

Every lenses has a sweet spot. And even the 50 1.8 will preform L zooms when operating in that sweet sport. ;)

And 600 dollars more ;) . It really comes down to what the shooter needs. I was all set on getting a 7D but after going to a canon class. The 60D fits my shooting needs better, and the 7D was just more.
