This is what Lifting 6 days a week, and Climbing 3 days a week does to your Hands....

I lift frequnetly, and also rock climb whenever I can. The other day, I did a polar plunge (jumped in the ocean in the winter), and went rock climbing afterwards. My hands were looking particularly gnarly, so I took a photo of them chalked/taped up from climbing. The tape is where there are blisters, and the chalk is for extra grip on rocks, and it also adds contrast to the photo.

Set up was sort of a pain, but I managed to get one good photo after about 25 attempts. Made several edits to it.

1. Original -- only added contrast/sharpening

2. Edit 1 -- High pass, curves, levels adjustments

3. Edit 2 -- Desaturated, tone adjustments

4. Edit 3 -- Sepia B+W, over sharpened (not sure I like this one)

Edit 4 -- Sepia B+W

Edit 5 -- B+W with more contrast, think this is my favorite

Edit 6 -- B+W again, extra sharpening
IMAGE: http://www.coppatopphotos.com/img/s3/v24/p888940856-4.jpg

Edit 7 -- Just a straight B+W from the original, nothing else.

Let me know which edit you guys like the best, and any other C+C on the photo itself. Thanks!

I think the Sepia toned ones work well here for me ... #4 for me FTW.

Hah! Thanks. I am thinking of taking a week or two off from lifting and climbing so my hands can recover. They are currently worse than in that picture.

I think I prefer the over sharpened sepia one, it makes it looks worse (your hands, not the photo) which I like ;)
