A fun thread. We can all dream cant we ?

I already have two DSLR (ASP-C) bodies, 7 digital lenses and a Canon G 12.

However if say I won 50 million dollars in a lottery...well lot's of camera equipment.

I would get the following:

  • Canon 5D Mark 11 body...maybe two.
  • Canon 17-40 L lens
  • Canon 500-600 mm...whatever has an F 2.8.
  • Pentax 645 D medium format lens....I used medium format in the film days...still have my Mamiya film system...want a digital Medium Format
  • Pentax 645 D -wide array of lenses for it.
  • Couple of Canon 580 and 430 flashes
  • Camera truck- probably a GM full size, partial window van. M vans have All Wheel Drive as an option, so I would get that. Captain's chairs first and second row. Cargo area ...carpeted and insulated and windowless (security) from behind the second row . Have this area set up as part RV...sleeping, living, eating quarters for 1-2 people...camera equipment padded and locked storage area.
  • Secondary consideration from long wheelbase, AWD , partial window, partial windowless van would be a Mercedes Sprinter, 3500 series (1 ton+), Dual Rear Wheel, 3 liter diesel engine, 5 speed auto...no AWD (not available) and outfitted as per the GM van.

That's a good start...oh...also a portable studio lighting system (carry in van) and Pelican cases and an assortment of Billingham or Domke bags.

My closet would have as much camera equipment as a womans closet has shoes.
And I'd choose which one I feel like using today.

Then I'd have a studio with rails to hold all my lighting, and I'd buy myself an RV with a big luggage area so I can tour the country.

What the heck, I'll probably need a yacht to travel the world as well.

Sure, I bought more than just cameras and lenses, but consider the yacht and RV as big camera case required to transport my equipment wherever I need to use it.

The money would allow me to get to more places to shoot with the gear I already have.

(Neither the 500 nor the 600 have f/2.8...)

Maybe a 400 L with F 2.8 ?

Also as another poster says...Leica. I would also get a Leica M9 with a number of Leica lenses.

I kinda want a Hassy...but I also kinda want a Phase I back.
Since I started using film again, I haven't actually wanted any more small format stuff. Maybe I'll get a 24-90 F/2.8L IS or something when it comes out, but I'm pretty happy with my 5 bits of L.

Fine, fine choice sir... :D

I volunteer to do the toting (you just have to pay for my commercial certificate .. and the "camera support")
