If that's not your photo, you can't post it. Post a link to it instead.

You will need to delete the photo from your original post -- you can replace it with the link -- just click the edit button, delete the IMG link and replace with the URL.

Well, give it some time, people have to look and ponder and in the end it will only be guesses!

Well, what software do you have? It looks to me like it's mostly a greyscale conversion with a touch of color added back to the face, but like I said it's just a guess. The actual creator of the image will have the "info"!

Well, with Lightroom, try doing a total desaturation and then brushing some very mild saturation over the face. With Photoshop, you can do it with layers -- add a B&W conversion layer with a mask filled with black, and then brush a very low opacity/gray area over the face to bring out a bit of color.

In Photoshop, I would do a black-and-white conversion layer (any one you fancy - desat, BW, gradient map, etc) then reduce its opacity to around 30-50%. Then add a Gradient Map layer (black to bright green), change its blend mode to Soft Light, and reduce its opacity also to 30-50%.

You can also split tone the image, or duo /-tri tone the image. You can also use the Color Balance adjustment and pull your colors toward the desired endpoints, letting Photoshop decide what is shadow, midtone and highlight.

If you don't know what you are trying to achieve, it is difficult to suggest techniques for achieving the result.

You may also want to consider toning down your whining when you don't get an instant answer to your homework you decided to finish at the last minute.

My steps:

  1. B&W adjustment layer
  2. Tick "Tint" and set hue and saturation levels that you want
  3. Reduce layer opacity enough to bring back a bit of original skin tones

There's a lot more to the picture you linked to than modifying color. Much more.
