Has anyone used this lens and can provide some feedback? I am purchasing the 580ex flash and need a lens in this range. This is not typically what I shoot and therefore do not want to spend a lot of money if I don't have to.

Comments on sharpness, quality, etc would be very helpful.

I would like to avoid another super soft lens like my 75-300 USM III.

I just bought this lens and to be quite honest, for the cost it well exceeded my expectations. The reviews on the net are right on. This is an excellent lens.

I just bought this lens and as a very novice/amateur I think it takes darn good pictures...:)

I have been using the 28-105 lens to compliment my 28-80L lens for about 6 years. On film, making prints up to 11x14 I could hardly see any difference. With digital images at 100% you the L lens is definitely better, particularly wide open, but my newer Tamron 28-75 XR is better than either.

It's a very nice lens for the money. I wouldn't mind using it as a walkaround.
