Fantastic set, the second one is one that I have not seen many of, being able to see that pose really brings out the beauty of him, Well Done!

Thanks Bret. They were a little slow to return here this year, last year I spotted the first one in early February. That's the same tree they work on every year and he's working on some new holes.

Great shots...the one and only time I've seen one of these, we played catch me if you can around and around a tree.........I never did catch him either.

Thanks Sharon. These guys move around trees like the brown creepers in a spiral motion and can be tricky. I'm lucky in that I have a clear shot at that tree and can wait for him to come around again.

I'm trying to remember if I've seen them at Dutch Gap. I know I've seen them at Hog Island before. I got some low quality shots of them mating there last Spring.

They do seem to be widespread on the eastern shore but I just haven't had any business out that way in a while and it's a little too far for me to drive just for pleasure. I'm going to start hitting Dutch Gap a little more often as soon as it warms up a little.
