I shot about 360 pics during 6 games this weekend, with about 240 finally saved. Most were not too much action - like this: #1

I caught just a few good action shots - not because of my equipment, only because of my inability to anticipate the action properly. I shot all single-shot, no bursts.

This is my first topic, so feel free to comment on anything at all - I'm here to learn. The boys seemed pretty excited about getting shot after I distributed a few 8x10's of their 1st game. I'm giving links to reduced versions to one of my grandsons to share on Facebook with all the boys. I'm tired, but I like this!

yea i take on average about 200 a game but thats only focusing on my team of course. the first 3 are great because you can see the palyers faces. #1 and 2 are the best #3 seems cropped too much or your focal length was too long. my only advice is to watch that horizon line and since you using that 85 you might have to scoot back farther but sit on the floor kinda under the hoop but off just a foot or so and you will get some great lay-up shots

other than that great job for first time. the best sports pictures are ones where you can see the players faces.

Thanks Brian, I hadn't thought of sitting on the floor to change the angle. I'm such an old fart, I might not be able to get back up! This gym was small - most of the time I was leaning against a wall. I realize that I'm going to have to get another lens - eventually.

Shot my 2nd game - still couldn't capture the action flow. Was restricted on floor positioning this time. I think my PP is improving even if my content isn't. The team manager asked me to shoot face shots of the team to digitally send-in to the main organization (not sure if AAU or USSSA). I may not be good, but I'm free.

Oh Lord! Don't ever say that out loud on POTN! ;)

Basketball is difficult, no doubt about it. Keep shooting and you'll keep getting better :D

Testing using thumbnails (click to enlarge)

Is that what the Mods/Tutorials are about?
