When I went without the padded insert, I had reduced my load down to just the camera with lens attached. The batteries and filters went in the two front pockets under the flap. In the main compartment I had my jacket, camera, a few maps, passport, and whatever else needed to go in there at the time, but I never felt that anything was banging around.

As for how it looks...I'm about 5'6". This is the Rothco bag, the GT doesn't come in this color I don't believe, but this is pretty much how it would look.

I may try going "paddy-free" to go superlight and still stay "stealthy". Thanks. ;)

Lemme know how it goes! I'm trying to find the happy medium between light/functional and just completely disregarding my camera's safety...I'd still prefer more protection than a single layer of canvas.

I'll see how it goes on a trip I'm taking. I may use a couple of shirts as the "paddy" in between lenses, flash, and camera.

I decided not to take the paddy. Although light, it is "bulky" and not easily foldable. ;)

I got my insert a couple days ago and my bag today. Put it all together and I already love this bad. I have a T1i and can fit it with a 70-200f4L IS attached in the vertical position (hood reversed) and the bag will zip closed without a problem.

In the bag I have: 70-200f4 (hood reversed), t1i with sigma 17-70(hood reversed but can fix normal as well), 2x TC, blower, small case with accessories(lens pen, remoter trigger, extra batteries, and micro fibers). In the front pockets I have the manual, filter wrench, memory card holder,CP filter, and step down ring. I still have plenty of room in both the front pockets and the main bag for extra gear.

Great "little" bag!
