You're right... I got conned by the "order both at once" offer. Oh well, it's correctable.

edit: .... but still, rather dumb given all the specific talk about this... it's even mentioned clearly in the Army Universe buyer comments. I have a tendency to pull the trigger too quickly once I decide on something.

but the paddy goes inside the bag....

It can't draw attention when people can't see it, I'm just saying on that one. There are other camera paddys similar to this one that come in black but they can be a little higher priced.

The Tenba wedding insert might be an option for you, but IDK, it's close to the same size as the paddy and not too bad on price either:

The reason we all pretty much have gone with the paddy is because of it's size and how it fits/works in the bag. It is 13" wide which fills the bag very well and it also has velcro inserts which allow you to be flexible in how you set things up. Also I like the orange color, it allows me to see things in the bottom of the bag when I can't find something. I have other bags with black interiors and when you drop little things in them it can be a pain in the butt to find where they went to sometimes.

just take another look at the paddy and you'll see it has a lot of options and the right size that the other inserts don't have:

So how much "pay per click" adscense are you making from us so far? :)

considering I don't have an account with them..... not a penny.... And I'm sorry I would never even bother with a pay per click BS.

is it so wrong to try to help people out? I guess we live in a world where everyone must gain something from others no matter what.... at least that's what you are insinuating. How dare I or anyone else around here try to help someone with a cheap solution to carrying their camera gear around that also keeps them from having to draw attention to themselves......

Here's a slightly different slant. Last week I tried using my leather fanny-pack to hold my T2i with 2 lenses. It was too darn crowded, but I liked the quick availability and comfort when sitting down.

So I explored a bit & found the Plano Softsider 3380, which is a small fishing-gear bag. Interior dimensions are about 9" x 5" x 5" ... quite big enough to handle my needs. The material is synthetic canvas-weave fabric with a rubberized inner bottom. The top is zippered, but I think I'll be able to just use the velcro closure. It's NOT padded, and I might add some thin padding/divider, there's room... but being tight on my waist, I'm a little less worried about hits.

The as-sold condition is set-up for shoulder or bike carry, and has the waist-strap connections tucked inside the back panel. I got mine in tree-camo from Walmart for $17.96 (listed on the web from $14 to $35); it also comes in blue.

There are a bunch of other models - this was just another quick buy-to-try.

As stated by BoneJj, I prefer the bright orange color in order to make it easier to see things inside of the bag. If you want a black/gray one, there is the Tenba Pro Digital 2.0 Photo Insert (external link) with similar dimensions and a cheaper price, but it does not have a lid. It looks like the camera paddy will be coming out in 2 new colors in September.

Stock Update
Sorry, backordered until August. Pre-order orange now. We're working on 2 new colors as well for probably Sept availability.

In case you couldn't find it.

I saw the back order message as well 6/9/11 and emailed bbg to confirm website info. Nelly from customer service responded that they still had a couple of units in stock. If you do not want to wait for new colors, they may still have some.

Has anyone asked what the new colors are going to be?

I have the Tenba insert currently, which doesn't have a top flap for the insert...it fits perfectly in the bag but has no padding on top. I might be interested in switching, but I reallllllly don't like the orange.

I just emailed and got the following response from Nelly:

"We August we will have the Camera Paddy in an Olive and Blue color. The Blue color is between a Carolina and Royal Blue."

I think he/she meant to start off the sentence with "In" instead of "We".
