Life is good. Our daughter has a goal in life (Broadway or Hollywood, either will do) and we don't discourage her. We can't see her stuffing envelopes at the local workshop - too many better things to do.

Ha..I guess we all need undiscouraged goals!!The arts needs all sorts of willing people, not just lead rolls..you never know !

Ya, I blanch at the thought of the workshops!! But having been in some to familiarize myself with that possibility I have found some very happy busy special people....still I hope for better....Maine has a program now for Downs kids to progress to college. My wife is looking there, but the last thing I want Myles to do is to have to perform as an example...Myles is a dancer and singer...not formally, just what he loves..and books..Has never torn a page since I've known him... What I have found his biggest issue is, is communication...He can figure anything out and remembers everything that happens and with who...but gets frustrated when having to talk to someone who dosen't understand him easily...so strangers can forget a conversation !!

That kid looks so innocent and pure it hurts!!

As previously stated "not one of the beautiful people" doesnt apply to the picture you posted to be fair!! The Child has Downs syndrome, BIG DEAL at least its honest and probably more honestly beautiful than anyone of us!! There is no makeup and no pretence in the photo!! the pic is just her life in motion captured in a moment that will stay forever!!

Very well done with the photo

Neil

photonut29 Please read back over this thread and see how this title relates...it in no way refers to the beauty of this child,,It is ment to bring some awareness that the so called "beautiful people" with all thier style and cloths and life style are in fact not the only beautiful people......Please read back over the thread that I might not offend you.....:D thanks for looking and commenting!

Peachman, I would hope that everyone by now is over the glitch in the title. I'm happy for you that this thread continues to thrive, but feel a little bad that the late comers haven't read all of the posts, so that they could get a feeling for what you are all about.

Your are obviously a great guy, and have special feelings for these kids.

Perhaps you might consider posting a new thread that won't prompt people, like myself, from commenting on the title, instead of the great pictures that you are sharing with us.

I doubt that anyone will object to seeing these pictures posted again under a different title.

It's only a suggestion, but I just want people to enjoy the pics without any doubt as to your intentions.

Keep up the great work that you are doing, and understand that we are all on your side. Maybe others can help you with a new title. I would suggest keeping "beautiful people" in it, but possibly deleting the "not" part.

To me, Downs kids are just simply kids. They might have special needs, but they deserve no less than any other kids. I so much applaud you for bringing them to us. Don't stop.

Well, I just found this thread tonight, and I did read the whole thing before posting! Had to! It is a beautiful picture. And, I too, have a daughter who is now 15 - going on 20 :) - who has Down syndrome. I thought I saw a picture of a toddler with Downs in a forum post last week, but sometimes with young ones it is hard to tell and I didn't want to offend the poster by asking. I am now guessing I was right. There are more of "us" here than I thought!

Many of you mentioned "beautiful faces." For those of you with children, or other family members with Down syndrome, have you seed this site - http://www.bandofangels.com/ (external link) ? They publish a Beautiful Faces calender every year, full of beautiful portraits of kids with Down syndrome.

Buddy Walks are held throughout the US everywhere during National Down Syndrome month. One of these day we need to make it to one! For those of you with younger children, I can only say get them involved. Our daughter is very active in Special Olympics and has made many friends through that program.

Ok, I will quit now.

This is a great thread! Thanks Peachman!

John...thanks for being there...I appreciate your words , help and support... I have a long history of "stirring the Pot" as they say, and usually can find that raw nerve on others when necessary...You are undoubtably right in that there would be a lot more who would have opened this topic and peeked...but look at the response of this photo/title! A lot of folks have been here and a lot have left messages... I am very thick skinned and can take having some folks upset with me as long as the message of the photo is seen and understood...This past week I put a photo of my grandson up (Myles w/Downs) and a very brief note about some dissappointment he had but no reference to Downs...almost no response...maybe it was a lousy picture, I don't know...But I'm finding, that contrary to my feelings, There needs to be some words to ignite some passion over a photo before the fabled "1000 words " of the photo can be illuminated by said ignited passion...No?
I don't know John,,,I thought for 2 days about the topic title before posting and new I'd take a hit for it...but folks like you who do understand are the ones I'm trying to reach....I hpoe we can sit and have a cup of coffee some day.........I completely understand your reasoning and assure you I will try it...again, thanks so much, especially for your support....

Hey Jboyd...Thanks for all that...isn't the response here great over the plight and care of these little sweeties? Of all the words that have been said in this topic on this forum, your words quoted here are the most important! Sorry POTN'ers for stepping onto the soap box here but JBOYD is so right...The hardest thing for Myles, even with his close family, is isolation from other kids...He is always asking me "Bumpa do you wanna play?..Other parents would just reather have thier kids playing with "normal" children.. and I understand this....but the few that do play with him bring a whole new dimension to thier lives....(both of thier lives)...ok I'll shut my pie hole now...

PS JBOYD, thanks for taking the time to read the whole thing!
