Batteries for intervalometer

I just bought this intervalometer for my 30D. Once it arrived I found out it doesn't come with batteries. The instructions say to use AAA 1.5V LRO3 alkaline batteries. I have some AAA eneloops that I bought by mistake (I missed the third A on the website and thought I was buying AA). They are rated at 1.2V. I'm wondering if I can use them in the intervalometer.

It's no big deal to go and buy some different batteries and I could just stick the eneloops in and see if they work, but before I either take the time to buy new ones or possibly damage it by using nonspecified batteries I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone has any experience with using them in one of these.

You won't damage it by using batteries with a lower voltage than is called for. It should be a pretty low-drain device, so they probably recommended alkalines for their shelf life.

I bought a similiar intervalometer from ebay and it works with rechargeable AAAs without any problems. I found that the AAA units last much longer than the 2036 models. Good luck with usng it!
