Hello POTN,

I am looking into getting 3 Lenses. I am currently looking at getting the Canon 10-22 F/3.5-4.5, Canon 17-55 F/2.8 and Canon 70-200 F/4

I will mainly be shooting Landscape. Do you think having the 10-22 and 17-55 is a good idea? I have noticed many of you have this combo. Which do you use more often when shooting landscape?

I just put a order for the Lee Holder Kit, and will need to purchase the adapter ring. I noticed that there are two different versions of the Adapter Ring. Since both use a 77mm Filter would I just need to purchase one or do i still need both of them?

EDIT: Just incase you were wondering, I will be using a 7D body.

I'm primarily a landscape shooter myself and I have the 10-22, 15-85, and the new Tamron 70-300.

I find the 15-85 a better/more flexible tool for me than the 17-55.
-Dont need 2.8 for landscapes
-Comparable sharpness
-15-85 has better flare resistance by quite a bit
-15-85 is a PERFECT range for a landscape shooter - I use it for 85% of my images.

I still need the 10-22 for when I want UWA (not quite as frequent lately), but being able to get down to 15mm vs 17mm on my standard zoom eliminates a lot of lens changing. This is a BIG deal to me when Im racing the light during sunrise/sunset or in less than ideal weather conditions.

You'll need the wide angle ring to avoid vignetting on your 10-22 and you'll most likely need it at 17mm on the 17-55, but I cant say for sure. I have two wide angle rings, a 72mm for my 15-85 and 77mm for my 10-22. Its convenient to have a ring for both lenses, but if you have the same size thread on both lenses, its certainly not a requirement.

How about including the 24-70L in place of the 17-55? It gives you more complete coverage of the range between 10-200mm. It also has a 77mm thread.

Thanks both for your suggestions.

Ill look into the 15-85, that would also cover the range between 11-200.

After further reviewing I think I might end up going with the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 instead of the Canon 10-22..I would love the 24-70L if I were to ever go FF.

I used crop cameras for years with a 24-70 lens backed up by a UWA 10-20 and it worked great. :)

If I were to with the Canon 10-22, I would really consider the 24-70L, but I might end up going with the 11-16 Tokina lens..So Maybe it would be wiser to pair that with the 17-55.
