Meh, that's the only kind of photography gig that pops up on CL around here. It used to be limited to businesses that needed images and didn't want to pay; you, know, the whole "you'll get credit on our site" routine. Now it has gotten so bad that random people are putting up TF deals trying to get pics of their kids done.

There's no shame in asking.

The shame lies entirely in accepting.

I think they hook you up with one of those amazing body scrubs at the end.

There are a ton of people dumb enough to take that job, that just seems to be the way things are these days.

You could always find out which magazine it is and "OUT" them to all the local photographer's so they know which "pool and spa" magazine to force out of business because of unethical business practices.

Or, you could just ignore it and go about your daily activities and just hope the next monsoon storm brings a lightning strike to "just" the right people or persons.

Wink, wink.

Very well put!

I think I'll respond and ask what RAW is, and then ask if it's some type of accessory I need to buy to do the shoot :p

Fumbletogs accept those gigs, so they can have bragging rights.

Did they update the ad, because I don't see where it says there will be no pay. They say they are looking for a freelance photographer which doesn't necessarily mean free photographer. Of course they don't mention any pay, but it doesn't say specifically say "we want to take advantage of you".

Trying to have a little faith in humanity... but only to be disappointed, I'm sure.

I think it is a smart company that is doing this. They are obviously well tuned into the state of the photography industry right now and know that they will get someone to bite on this. I don't blame them for attempting this but I would never shoot this type of assignment based on the language I see here. Companies everywhere are trying everything they can to cut corners and this is simply another avenue. There are people out there that do some decent work and only want the chance to shoot. Its the reality of the world we live in right now, like it or not. Simply because the person is working for free doesn't mean that the work results will be inferior. On the flip side I have seen work done that cost companies thousands of dollars that was total crap.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
