I have new Dell PC i7 that i bought last summer for $1500 with 8gb memory. Recently my lightroom has been freezing on me. it has been doing that especially when i use spot removal or healing tool zoomed in. what can cause all this?? my HD is 20% full and i run one progrma at a time. this has been driving me nuts since i can't get my work done.

When you say "freezing" do you mean the app locks up and needs to be restarted, or are you referring to the tendency for LR to take some time to process the complexities that occur with local adjustments (recomputing metadata and recreating the full-size previews for the Edit module can be a bit time-consuming)?

If you are having a serious problem, heading over to the Lightroom Users Forum could get you looking in helpful directions.

Well, like I said, you can check in to the Users Forum for a broad scope of input:

Look at the links at the top and right side of the page for other optional places to check (Lightroom Community Help, Help and Support, etc).

I use Lightroom 3.3 and have a pretty powerful PC. And I too have these problems. Indeed, lots of people are having these problems, especially when it comes to the brush, spot, and graduated filter tools. I've tried everything - even going so far as to emptying my recycle bin, starting a new catalog and moving all my edits there, etc. And the issues - freezing, slow-downs, rough sliders - are still there.

I'm still looking for a solution, as are many others if all the Lightroom forums can be believed.

Exactly what I'm experiencing. Did all the same above, I have only few pictures in my catalog and same thing. I wonder if camera raw in cs5 has this issue? I'll chat with ligjtroom forum later on.

Well, all those who are experiencing this to a significant degree should go to the Bug Report section of the Adobe Lightroom Forum and chime in there. Maybe it will get quick attention!

I have this problem also, ACR in CS5 works fine. I just thought I needed a new computer. I'd hate to get an i7 with 8GB and have the same issue!!!

I kinda don't think it's our computers. They're plenty powerful enough to handle any of this kinda stuff. It could, however, be a conflicit with a video driver or something similar. I do know this: When I first open Lightroom, it seems to function okay for awhile. Then it seems like it builds up an excess of whatever and runs itself right out of memory. You notice it most, of course, when you've opened a pic where you've applied a local adjustment tool. I have one where I've used the adjustment brush over 80% of the frame. Lightroom has real trouble even opening it up.

From what I've read though, many people with computers not even as powerful as ours have none of these problems at all. So is it something specific to our machines?

Not responding means the program may be busy. Lightroom does this on my machine when it is computing. There may be some compatibility issues but I seriously doubt it. QA at Adobe is likely a well run team who test their software on a wide variety of platforms.

Gordholio, try to reinstall your video driver. Someone from the other forum has recommended this. It can be corrupted or out of date. I will get with Adobe tech tonight.
