That's one of the few things I haven't already done. I'll try it today.

after spending 3 hours with dell tech guy, they convinced me to restore my system back to start, to the same condition when it came new. well, and after all these hours i finally downloaded the LR all over again and what do you know? same problems and im back to square one.

can some one please duplicate what im doing and let me know if you are having same issues? maybe im over exaggerating and this is a normal behavior for LR. can someone run a test for me please and open any image in LR 3. try using the spot tool in different places of your image and then drag them around and see if this will cause your pc to stop responding, freezing? thanks in advance

I wouldn't go as far as blaming your machines. I'm running LR3 and CS5 reliably on my $200 10" netbook with 2gb ram.

I was interested to read about your problems. I am running LR3.3 (64 bit) under Win 7 (64 bit) and am also running CS5 (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron desktop with 6Mb of memory and an Intel quad-core processor and I never have any problems. The one time I did have problems was when I installed a new Intuos 4 tablet - the tablet driver had conflicts with LR. Complained to to Wacom, there must have been others as well, because it didn't take long for them to issue a new driver and everything has been running smooth ever since. I am sorry, but I really don't know what to suggest - have you installed any new devices since LR was installed, have you installed any additional software - are you processing raw files or jpegs or tiffs when this happens. Have you had this problem from day 1 with LR, or is it something that has begun to happen recently - if "recently", what else has changed, or did change, around the time you started to have these problems - one could go one with these types of questions and there is no guarantee that you will find an answer - unfortunate, but maybe try and go back to the Adobe helper and see if they can shed any light on this problem. Hope you find a solution to your problem.

Cheers,

WesternGuy

I switched LR3 and CS5 over to my newly released Dell XPS15 and it they run faster than I do!

The adjustment brush has ZERO delay. My old machine from 07 could fall behind 10 seconds or sometimes not even register.

BIG difference.

since I have restored my computer back to start, i dont have any softwares installed right now beside the LR and factory junk. i have only one image in LR catalog right now with 9 spots (Q) and i can't even re size them cause this will cause LR not to respond and if i move one around, LR freezes. When i bought this computer last year from dell it worked smoothly with LR, i couldn't complain.

Core 2 Duo at 3.8ghz
GTx 260
2gb of ram

My computer struggles in Lighrtroom sometimes, especially when looking imported files and when I click the development module. Probably need some more RAM.. even though the usage is at 1.7gb

Adding RAM will definitely help.

mine is just a laptop.

i removed all the excess garbage that ships with computers, set up msconfig, etc etc to optimize performance for LR and PS.

something else is wrong with your computer. are you sure you don't have a virus? a restore cd doesn't always get rid of them....

I don't get this. I'm running a custom built PC with 2gb of RAM and a Core 2 Duo OC'd to 3.2. My images and catalog are all on drives running via USB, and I never get any slowdowns or hang-ups.

I did notice LR slowed down quite a bit when I went from my Rebel XS to the 7D.

Using the adjustment brush with the new comp is like painting in microsoft paint, lol. it's nothing!
before it sucked bad and barely even worked.

also, how much ram is allocated to lr? maybe too much and what is really slowing down is windows? i would try less and more there as well.
