What do you use for a portable power source?

I will be purchasing an AlienBees B800 Flash Unit very soon and am wondering what I should use to power it when there are no outlets available.

The vagabond 2. Either the vagabond 2 or the new vagabond mini are pretty much the most practical solutions. There are DIY options but they end up costing about the same for little improvement in performance.

Those are on back order. Any other similar options?

I saw those as they are the only ones listed on the site, but they are on backorder. I really need to get this power source soon, but I do not want to take a hit in performance/quality...if I have to wait, I have to wait.

It needs to be a true (or pure) sine wave inverter. Inexpensive modified sine wave inverters clip the power curve and can cause the lights to fail.

The Innovatronix XT is an excellent unit. Many people don't buy it because it is more expensive than a Vagabond II, it doesn't come with the bag, and the shipping from the Philippines is $45.

Great solution but it comes with a higher price tag than the Vagabond II.

The metal housing of the XT is much more rugged and durable. Weight and bulk are about the same with slightly different dimensions. Battery life is outstanding.

The UPS I got was 100$. It is cheaper and more power BUT the weight is the trade off.

And potentially ruin your lights in the long run.

Some actually have a pure sine wave inverter in them. You just have to do your research first.

Yeah, that's what you have to look for.

I have an Innovaotronix Tronix Explorer XT SE. It was about $430 shipped with the carrying back, but after using the Tronix and the Vagabond II, I purchased the Tronix. It's sturdier and the bag isn't required to hold it together. I'm using mine with a 1200w/s Spoodotron pack and a 400w/s Speedotron pack.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Speedotron users, untie!
