Flash doesn't communicate with camera via TTL Cord

Checked with diode test and can confirm your findings.
Since the flash works in the hotshoe this leaves me with the two possibilities;
1) proper contact is not being made between pins,
2) the voltage drop over the diode is is of a specific value. this would explain other threads complaining of problems with off camera leads.

so either purchase original Canon OE-C3 or open the one i have and swap for a suitable diode.

Wilt: can you tell me the value you got when you did the diode test?

A capacitor typically gives the result that it conducts for a moment, then no more.
A diode is of course the typical reason for conduction in one direction, not in the other. Values of 0.6 V is are typical forward bias voltages for silicon diodes.
