I currently own a 450D (Xsi) and have been wanting to upgrade my camera for a while, and the 7D caught my attention.

I live in Australia and have been searching around for a while and came across a price probably too good to be true. I was just after some experienced advice on this one.

The price of the 7D on the site DWI ( http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au …roduct.asp?idProduct=2364 (external link) ) is only $1379.00 AUD 0__0
This is significantly cheaper then anything else I can find online. Mostly the price being around $2000. (The price on this site including postage and 2% surcharge is still under $1500)

From what I understand, everything from this site is 'grey market' which is where I'm getting concerned. It says it comes with "1 year warranty for Canon" but I'm guessing this is not actually a real warranty?
So if the warranty is no good, would buying the 'Mack 3 yrs ext. intl warranty' cover whatever I needed instead?

Also, because it's so cheap, I'm concerned that when they say 'body only' they may mean, body only...No battery/charger/manual/whatever else.
Would this be the case?
And I'm also worried about any hidden GST fees or something because I (think) it's coming from overseas...

Haha. A lot of concerns I have. I just feel this is probably one of those cases where it IS too good to be true, and it might be worth it to spend the extra $500+ to get it elsewhere..

Has anyone here bought from this website?

Thanks for any advice :)

I bought from them and mine came in a Canon box with battery, charger, manual, CDs etc. I did get the Mack warranty but I dont know if I needed it. The way I look at it, they're as cheap as a 2nd hand camera here and you dont get a warranty with that. Supposedly DWI have their own 12 mth warranty, although I'd hate to put it to the test. Anyway, I love my 7D and when I got it I think it was almost $200 more than they are now. The lowest I saw them go at DWI was $1300, I damn near bought another one as a spare!

Oh, I meant to say I also bought a 500D and a 50 1.8 from them for a friend and as far as I know she's had no problems with it either.

Oh Whippeticious, you have brought my confidence up a lot now!

I'm glad to hear the offer seems legit.

So Mack warranty does nothing?

What you need to establish in writing, is when does the MACK extended VIP warranty kick in ?
Does it replace the existing warranty (so 3 years of cover from the date of purchase) or when the original 1 year warranty finishes (so 4 years in total).

This might help clarify the Mack Warranty situation.

Thank you! Reading that (and giving me ideas to search up a few other things to read) has made me more comfortable with the idea of purchasing Grey Market...

After reading through that forum it seemed generally DWI (I found a DWI thread lol) was fair with their own warranty, but problems arrised when they deemed the camera to be broken due to accidental damage (or as they put it, neglect/misuse)...Which is where I'd assume the Mack Diamond warranty would come in, as it covers accidental damage.
From what I understand, unlike the regular mack warranty which only begins after the manufacturers own warranty expires, the Diamond version works during the same time period as the manufacturers warranty...

Does that sound right?

Just found this thread, but for what its worth, I bought my 550D through them and no problems at all. Haven't had to test the warranty though.
