Thank you all.
It is impressive what an old 5D, even older sub-100 dollar lenses, and a 10-dollar tripod can achieve!

i went mid-late august. I think going late summer, early fall is best choice if you want to catch some nice clouds. I doubt you want to be actually caught in a storm though, especially on top of an isolated highpoint like Cloud's rest.

I'm in that club that has spent the night on Cloud's Rest. These shots capture it very well. Thanks for bringing back the visions.

Have fun

Surprisingly, 1, 2, and 4 have very conservative post-processing outside some saturation, dodge/burn, sharpening. The other two, I have done slighlty more aggressive saturation work to emulate film, namely Velvia. They are all panoramas. I may have exposure blended in some of these shots to tone down the highlights and lift up shadows slightly. It really is more about making the effort to be at the right place at the right time and capturing it the best you can. I myself could hardly believe the colors that I witnessed (esp. for pics 2 and 3), so it is no surprise that an outsider looking at a photographic representation might have difficulty suspending their disbelief. But these colors are pretty faithful to what I have seen and I do feel very lucky to have witnessed it.

If I took these....I'd be sending them on to Ken Burns. Great work!
