Snydremark my very own Lightrules moment More info | In a shot like that last one, if you want to get detail in the subject itself, set your metering to Spot and adjust your exposure by +1 to +2. You'll blow the sky out, but you'd be able see the bird. - Eric S.: My Birds/Wildlife

DuaneN Cream of the Crop More info | It's really hard to tell (can you see the actual eye color) from the image but I'm going to guess a young Red-tailed Hawk. A Red-shouldered Hawk would have brown eyes (the younger ones).
