It is kind of hard to tell but it looks like a Red-Shouldered Hawk to me. I like that silouhette shot

Thanks! Unfortunately it was back-lit from just about every direction I could shoot from, so I wasn't able to get a better shot for ID.

In a shot like that last one, if you want to get detail in the subject itself, set your metering to Spot and adjust your exposure by +1 to +2. You'll blow the sky out, but you'd be able see the bird.

It's really hard to tell (can you see the actual eye color) from the image but I'm going to guess a young Red-tailed Hawk. A Red-shouldered Hawk would have brown eyes (the younger ones).
