I'm sure many here will disagree with that author's opinion.

It was $1300 at release on now selling for $600 used/refurb. I'm having a hard time passing that up; seems like some people are getting overstock through CLP - so (potentially) a "NEW" 50D for $540 + tax? Hmmmm, even if I REALLY want the 7D, could I manage with the 50D for a while?

tkbslc wrote in post #11994863 Find me a NEW digital camera of any kind for $40. You can get a brand new spy camera on meritline for less than $20. BSully wrote in post #11994936 I'm with you - I won't buy a new camera. The money would be much better spent in an extended warranty with Adorama + CLP refurb. -Brian After my experience with the CLP I won't buy a brand new body again. tkbslc wrote in post #11995149 I don't get what the big deal is, it is not like you wouldn't use a sheet. First thing I do in a hotel room is remove the bedspread and stick it in corner of the room. These things are lucky to get cleaned once a year, if that much.

And easily out pace the saving you got from buying used. As there is some many things that can go wrong with a used camera. And depending on how it was treated or how much uses they have seen. The life of a digital camera will not as long as new. Traveling is my passion, so I am a major Frequent Flyer.
