I photographed a similar one for a friend for research purposes.

Thanks, it is not a bad looking piece but needs some internal work.

The research I did said they were indeed civil war imports. In use they weren't much and not particularly lethal. That and the propensity for round discharges when they were dropped caused them to not be too popular. I've tried to research this particular piece but can get nowhere with it.

The one you linked looks like it might be quite a bit older than this one.
