Russian 1942 Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant 91/30 original "sniper" bent bolt. This one is rated "excellent" overall condition, bore rated as "very good plus", and all original stamped matching numbers, with full accessories. I have owned 9 months. It is 74 years old, it may have not been shot in over 50 years, and even with decades old ammo, it shoots crazy straight. I really enjoyed this rifle; in spite of the bruise it gave me on my right shoulder. As I was firing it, I found myself wondering where this rifle has seen combat, perhaps in winter 1942 in Stalingrad, or the push to the Eastern Front in 43-44, or the march in 45. It helped to remind me, that the 'greatest generation' around the world, served together, and sacrificed to defeat the evil in the hearts of the leaders of the axis powers. I was originally looking for one to take apart and make into a modern sniper rifle , cut the barrel, re- crown the barrel, thread the barrel for a break / suppressor, replace the entire trigger package, and put into modern sniper stock. This one is to nice to do that to. It had been in a private collection for a long time. Feb 08, 2016 20:09 | #3038 Thats pretty cool. Mine is a regular old 42/43 turd. Its ugly, the wood stain is flaking off/messy but it shoots well enough. I wish they were still cheap and easy to find. i wanted to buy another one as a beater to do exactly what you said. modernize it and see what happens. M50 | RP | 5Dc | 7D

This is my personal but I also took this on as a side hobby/job. Started off for fun and flourished into "fun" work. Thank you for the compliments

JBruja Member More info | . . . . and here is a pix of the U.S. Navy Bureau of Ordnance Mark 74 telescope that was used on an artillery piece - the shipboard mounted 50mm anti aircraft cannon - and others. Mfgd. in 1944 by Honeywell. The optics are very sharp without any noticeable distortion and the cross hairs can be illuminated using an external light source. At 20 lbs. it's a bear to try and couple a camera to it. This time I used the Canon 5D and 100mm f1:2.8 macro lens. . . . I did some component upgrades to this one for reliability, but also to eliminate the factory two-tone (black & silver) appearance that I didn't like...
