Whattya mean, you just "whack" the barrel down on a wooden workbench
a couple of times and it comes right off ...sometimes.

lol, man I replied before I read yours,. too funny.

I remember the first time I took it apart for a thorough cleaning, now mind you, I'd done some pretty serious actual smith work to two of the 1911's I owned at the time, not just parts, but actual cutting and filing of the frame etc,. barrel fitting. So I went in with no fear,. feeling totally confident. Wow, did I miss read the tea leaves. It never occurred to me just how over my head I was wading when I got it apart. took me HOURS to get it back together, following the directions with the flips and twists etc,. it was like Alchemy instead of science.

And then when it goes, it goes easy so you think you've got it. Until the next time. Finally you get to where 3 of four assemblies go ok, but there's always the concern that this may be the one of 4.

They come apart fine. Getting everything in the right position to flip up the lever in the back is difficult. Read the instructions carefully as you're doing it. It's sometimes difficult to pry out the lever without scratching the pistol. Have a piece of wood or a hard plastic mallet to get the barrel off and back on.

It's not terribly difficult but it is a little humbling.

They're terribly reliable and great practice for form. It makes ownership worth it.
