And just to show how silly things can get. Me with a Martini action rifle. I fired it just after SWMBO took the photo (I was going to say shot :rolleyes:)

It was the first fully hydraulic gun ever, fired a 1 ton shell and was accurate up to almost 8 miles. Never used in action

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

I didn't half feel a prat withe that funny jacket and hat on :oops: But the bang was worth it I suppose :mrgreen:

Plus, it put some more pennies in to a very good museum fort!

Nice piece of history there. I've never had a chance to shoulder a Martini. The Henry never felt comfortable to me, although that looks like a firearm that fits.

I was more used to shooting either the Lee Enfield .303 or the BSA Martini International .22 competition rifles when I was in the R.A.F. I even managed to blag an outing to Bisley as a member of the R.A.F. Lyneham team. That was a real experience and I was all of about 20!

That rifle above was comfortable to fire, but I'll bet it kicked with live rounds in it!

I remember the Rock Ape (R.A.F. Regiment) sergeant saying to me about the .303. He said "love it sonny, or it will hate you!" That meant hyug it TIGHT in to your shoulder or it will kick like a bloody mule! It did too if you didn't heed the advice.
