LOL, "Western Auto ammo, $.93 a box." How old is that? I think Western Auto went out of business in the 1970s, right?

I looked it up; "Western Auto Supply Company—known more widely as Western Auto—was a specialty retail chain of stores that supplied automobile parts and accessories. It operated approximately 1200 stores across the United States. It was started in 1909 in Kansas City, Missouri, by George Pepperdine and Don Abnor Davis. Pepperdine later founded Pepperdine University.[1] Western Auto was bought by Beneficial Corporation in 1961; Western Auto's management led a leveraged buyout in 1985, leading three years later to a sale to Sears. Sears sold most of the company to Advance Auto Parts in 1998, and by 2003, the resulting merger had led to the end of the Western Auto brand and its product distribution network."

well I can say i am old enough to remember shooting boxes of the RWS "Noble" and the "Eley" that looked a lot like those, but I am not esoteric enough to have ever heard of the "Western Auto"

hard to imagine that .22lr like the tenex is @ .50c a round right now.

Thank you, I bought some Elinchrom D-Lite 400W/s RX 4 flash units around Christmas and this was my first time using a flash in the studio rather than lights. Took a while to get stuff figured out so that there was some indication of the bash on the hat but still have light on the belt. I still have a lot of learning to do, but it turned out better than I expected.

My grandmother's H&R .410-44 shotgun. It was in a barn for a long time, I sent to a gunsmith, he put a new lever and sear on it so it now works. I sanded the stock a bit, didn't want to remove too much wood, then stained and put 7 coats of Tru-Oil on the wood. The .44 part of the gun is .44-40. I made a shotshell from an old .44-40 case, 1cc of TrailBoss and 1.5cc of #8 shot. Actually patterns pretty decent at 15 feet. Hopefully one of my grandkids will be happy to have their GG Grandmother's bedside gun.

I've actually heard of people shooting .44 Mag out of guns like this. Although they will chamber, I wouldn't recommend it.

Cool. Will a .44 special chamber? Are those pressures too much? I guess it's hard to know this....
