Made a lightbox out of a cardboard box, some parchment paper, and some shop work lights.

This is one of my competition guns. A62544

Nothing special about the photo, just thought I'd share my attempts at loading .44-40 shotshells. On the left is one loaded with 1cc of TrailBoss, loaded short enough to fit in my revolver. Other one is loaded with 1.3cc of TrailBoss for my old .410/.44 shotgun. Thanks to Cowboy Action Shooter Imis Twooffen for supplying the Speer shot capsules. Test fired each, killed a .5 liter Diet Coke bottle. These would work for garden pests at close range.

NOPE! Not sure I’ve got the nerve to try. I’ve got an H&R Buffalo Classic and an 1895 Marlin (Remington made :( ) The crescent steel buttplate on the H&R is bad enough!

A friend handed me a BFR in 45-70 so I shot it three rounds. That one gets your attention, but then so did my Remington Sendero in 7mm Ultramag. 7 rounds through that one, sighting in the scope, and I was ready to hand it to somebody else to shoot.

My days with high powered rifles (and shotguns) are behind me now. In the last ten or twelve years I have had one torn retina in each eye repaired. Now recoil shy, no more big calibers for me. Only wimpy ones......don't want the repairs to fail. All that stuff is sold off.

Once (pre-eye issues) I shot a friend's big game rifle (I don't remember the caliber but it was for African game like cape buffalo etc- maybe a .416 Rigby but I have forgotten) offhand. One round was enough!!!! It didn't knock me over but it had quite a kick!!!

There was a time I would have jumped at the chance to have a go at the BFR in 45-70. The same era in which I decided I had to own a .454 casull. That was nearly 30 years ago...:cry::-(
Ah well.

Ah well.

Another crazy caliber..wasn't the revolver for that one, the Raging Bull, nicknamed The Raging Lunatic or something like that?

lol!
I had the Ruger "Alaskan " or Kodiak or something like that. A big "extra" Super-RedHawk.
I think the first revolver chambered in that caliber was Freedom Arms single action. The Bull was Taurus, and that came a little while after I stopped shooting mine.
