When I look at what is currently available on the Canon site the number is 3.8.3. Anyone can get at that. I'm not sure what the latest and greatest version is with the last camera released but what is available online is more than capable. My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

And I think that woos is right that 3.10 is bundled with the latest models. Elie / אלי

I'm suspecting that the only real difference between the current 3.9.3 and 3.10.x will be the addition of support for the new cameras. If you picked up a 600D or 1100D without software then I can see the need, but if you have an older camera, I dont suspect that the upgrade will offer much. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

New cameras could require new algorithms so a new and better rendering could be possible. This can be suble and difficult to see.

A few years ago I was using RIT, or Raw Image Task, part of ZoomBrowser. It was identical with the cameras internal processing. I liked the results and was impressed with the rendering/conversion but then Canon released a new version of DPP ( don´t remember version number ) and discontinued RIT. If you use raw-files from older models and do a side by side comparison, RIT vs latest DPP, you will see how much better DPP has become in only a few years. Canon won´t tell us if DPP 3.10 has improved or not but I am still looking forward to new releases. If only they could add a recovery slider, like the one you find in LR/ACR and a couple of brushes I would be happy. Exactly, that too. amanathia.zenfolio.com

The version on the Canon website is the complete version. There are several ways to install it without the original disks. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Thanks gjl711. Does Windows 7 still have a registry? If so, is regedit still used? I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!
