I was wondering how they shoot this kind of pic? do they use flash to get washed out window or what?
Thanks

Depending on circumstances if you expose for the skin say on the side of her face the window will be shown of blown highlights as a result. This is where shooting in manual is valuable. You cannot expect your camera's meter to get this right on its own. My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

But the conventional way to get the subject exposed and some of the background to come through is with a bit of fill flash. Tony
