I need some advice in getting a nice monopod for my 7D+300f/2.8 IS. I currently have a Manfrotto 680B but I'm looking for something more compact for hiking that I could put a belt or some sort of holster through. The Gitzo would be ideal (~16" folded) but way out of my price range...looking closer to >$100.
Thanks

I was looking for the smallest one I could find and ended up with a Manfroto 790B that I added a Nite Ize eClipse locking clip to, and I love it. It's a locking clip that clips to my pocket and doesn't come off unless I unlock it. I'm sure the monopod isn't as stable as the expensive ones, I but I like it a lot more than my carbon fiber one for my purposes and it was about $40.

Thanks for your suggestion. The 780B is exactly what I would like but is only rated for a Max load of 2.2lbs. I need something to support my 7D+ 300f2.8 (8lbs). I guess something rated at 10-11lbs would work. What are others members using for this range of load?

These are hard to find, but work well and are not too big.
