Our local Dunlin flock was real jumpy today with all of the walkers. They were also joined by about 20 Sanderlings while I was shooting them. Unfortunately, there wasn't a Peregrine today :neutral: .

This Dunlin was being chased by his comrades because he dug up this giant Polychaete Worm (pronounced Poly-keet). He eventually got it down after breaking it in two.

Feeding Dunlin

The Sanderlings moved in and out of the flock but tended to stick to the foam line which was higher than where the Dunlin were feeding. Without the longer beak of the Dunlin they weren't able to feed in the shallow water.

Love the first shot although if it were mine I might consider cropping the bottom portion at the water line. That is one yummy looking worm. Great set.

Nice set Evan, that first shot is great. It's strange seeing the winter plumage on the dunlin, i've only ever seen them in summer so that's one dramatic change. By the way, it's nice to see im not the only teenager in the bird forums!

Very nice set of shots Evan. I usually only see these guys one or two at a time, I sure would love to see this many in one spot.
