Hi everyone , not going to ask what's going on. Went to the country team shoot to day and only took two pictures after which it rained . And drizzled. and rained.
Shooting when it's wet is not much fun.

@Austen,ah the dreaded strobes I've seen some hardware shops running specials for gensets 750kw to 1000kw for less than 1k.
Would they meet your needs?

hi john, It was only really a test shot to check light and setting. Looking at it now I should have taken out some of the highlights to make the the barrel a bit better to look at.

Chris, just one of the many things to learn about photography. It's still a good shot though IMO.

Then they can PM the mods too?

This continuation of public bickering with the mods is precisely what's driving POTNAC into absolute oblivion. Guys, I know many of you are feeling pretty disillusioned over this. But let's drop the victim mentality and think pragmatically for a minute: exactly how is fighting with the mods in the public domain in this manner helpful? Unlike nation-state governments whose power rests on legitimacy in the eyes of their subjects, whose disenchantment could possibly result in the overthrow of such regimes, this place is a privately-owned place ran by Pekka. It doesn't matter how unfair, unethical, fascist or whatever we may think of the behaviour of the moderator cohort, we have to play by the rules if we want to be here - and most importantly, we don't have to be here if we don't want to!

As far as I'm aware (someone correct me on this), there are just two things we can't do: break the no-thread sale rule, or talk about moderator decisions in public? That's not too difficult is it?! We've all derived much knowledge and new friendships from POTNAC, and it would be such a terrible shame for it to go down like this.

Well said Mister Collin... on both accounts.

It's for whatever you want it to be within the guidelines of the forum's rules. It can't be any simpler than that.

Picked up a 55-250 off ebay last week and finally got out to shoot with it today. Just an impromptu wander around a park in Bendigo after work.
The requisite POTN duck shot being a telephoto lens

Then pulled out the Sigma 150 for some comparison. Think this was probably the first time I'd shot ducks with it too

Only had the 150 on the camera when I saw a few of these fellas. Spent a long time on my haunches hoping they would get used to me being around them so that I could fill the frame sufficiently. Needed the 55-250. A 300 wouldn't have gone astray actually. Knees were very stiff by the time I tried to walk away ?!

Impressions with the efs are good so far. It doesn't seem to handle flare all that well (no hood on it). Nice and sharp at f/8 at the long end. Problem with that is that I have spoiled myself with the 150 f/2.8 and 28-75 f/2.8 of late and having to shoot that slow meant a lot of time at ISO 1600 in the cloudy conditions. All in good fun :D
