i guess we filipinos are wary of the year-round scorching sun. :D besides, most of us are already brown-skinned, so there's no need to get darker. :D

ps. i didn't have an umbrella, nor wore a hat when i went there. :)

lol...nice shot michael.

A couple more from yesterday, but compared to what's being posted, they're boring...

Annie, in between all the frenzy posting, I missed your post! Nothing boring about it, but I agree that what was posted in the last few hours is just mind blowing!

Your first image of the bird is fantastically sharp and with much better contrast than the previous ones on the subject, so I think it was worth the new batch of pictures! The contrasty sun in this case actually makes a better image IMHO. Nice shots!

Rafa.

Keep practicing. It'll come.

I'm loving that lion shot. It literally made me LOL. Great timing.

Hollywood, I disagree that you were kind of lost!! I really like the pictures! The first one is a bit over exposed, but the other two are very good and the second is nice and sharp and perfectly exposed! Now, what is true is that mid day sun is the worst possible setting for pictures, but I believe you managed quite good there!

My I inquire what focusing system you are using and if you have all the focus points active or you are shooting only center point AF? I believe you may be battling with the camera trying to focus everywhere instead of where you want.

But don't get discouraged! I believe this are good pictures and you can only improve over time once you get more familiarized with the camera and changing the settings to the conditions at hand!

Also, great news on the flashes you decided to purchase, I look forward to what you think of them, Best regards,
Rafa.

How do you guys crop pics? Do it with the canon program or within the camera? Going try to take a pic with the moon tonight with the 55-250mm, seen some really good crops of the moon lately.

That's strange Rafa. Hmm, come to think of it, I have had a few instances where the low battery symbol (flashing red) comes on without perceived previous warning. It could have something to do with having two batteries instead of 1 in series (i think series...) and having the low battery sensor only used to sensing one battery (in camera sensor I would assume). The battery level indicator could measure something other then volts (amps?) that stays elevated with 2 batteries and that gets low with only one battery (which is how it tells you how much juice is left). Just a wild shoot in the dark, I am not up to snuff on my electrical engineering :p

Either way, glad your equipment is okay and i'll keep a closer eye on my battery level in the future.

Oh, you have no idea! If you head to the POTN Lounge, you'll see several that make us look like turtles racing against an F1 :) .

For instance, you know that every 10.000 posts the thread is made anew and starts its (2) incarnation? (like ours is now?) Well, the Red Ring Tupperware Party, Unabridged thread its in its 18th!!!! version... so, they have posted only on that thread more than 170.000 posts :)

Rafa.

Thank you Rafa. I'm still trying to wade through those same 79 shots from yesterday. Some are so similar, that it's just a case of trying to figure out which of a bunch that look basically the same, is the best.

It's interesting that a series of shots, taken under what appears to be the same lighting conditions, and with virtually the same settings can turn out looking so different sometimes. But that's our whacky Florida light for you.

Thanks Allan, which grip are you using? which batteries? do you place two of them on the grip or only one at a time? Thanks again,
Rafa.

Slickooz, we don't have image editing capabilities on the T2i, you cannot do it in camera (beyond what you can do with the reach of the lens, of course! :) ). Yes, the Canon software or LightRoom or Photoshop, but really not Paint, will help you on your venture.

Good luck with the moon!
Rafa.

@hollywoodgt - you didnt loose it.. what i have found in bright sun is to run a higher shutter... 1/1000 1/2000 or 4000... but you can post process them.. and get the colors right.... well lets say get the colors to POP on your pics.. ;)

@slickooz - to crop is to just crop within software to get a picture at a different size.. example.. I use adobe photoshop elements 9.. wife bought it for me with premier 9 for $100 for xmas... inside of that.. i click crop... then draw around what i want... then hit the check... viola done

exampe...
this video is on photoshop.. but gives you the idea.... most photo tools let you..

Yes, I'm starting to believe I was a better photographer back then! :o It was kind of reckless as we got right up to the circuit's curves to get the pictures. This is another from the kit lens (so it doesn't have a compressed perspective) to show you how close we were :o:
