Great shots as usual. Too many to count, and also we have some new members it would appear so welcome.

@rafa, how do you know she doesn't have the IS version?

@yellowf150, what stop ND filter did you use to get the water to blur?

OMG... where to start today!!! :D

Thanks, Annie. When I said "for baby lovers" of course I really meant "for Annie":)

Mook, I think it's genetic. My dad loved babies and little kids, and they loved him right back, and I think I just inherited it.

Son graduated from Marine Corps training at San Diego MCRD this month. Got a few okay hand-held shots. This was one time where I was almost completely after quantity of shots rather than quality. Just kept clicking away all day long.

Probably should have used a flash in the shade under the palm tree. FYI - that palm tree image was using a Tokina 12-24mm with a Marumi Circular Polarizer.

Congratulations to your son and your family. Please thank him from me for his service to our country.

spring is here in the uk and the blue skies are coming, the glens being high up still have the winter colours showing but this will soon change

Lovely scene. I know we're going to see lots of English beauty soon.

Sorry to somewhat repost, but I had a chance to touch up one of my earlier photos from today. I brought out the blue skies a bit and made the ominous clouds a bit darker to make it look a little more like how the eye saw it.

By the way, computers are amazing. I'm also posting one of the original SOOC shots for comparison.

WOW Maru. That's some difference!! I think the retouch really shows us that storm as you must have seen it. Great job!!

Congrats to your son and god bless our finest. My daughter is also a US Marine currently stationed in Afganistan.

Digital, please convey my thanks to your daughter too, for her service to the country. I'll keep her in my thoughts.

Congratulations Peter. I just know you're going to have a blast with that baby!!

And last, but never least, our beloved Rafa: bw!

Friends, we should really make a book with some of the images posted here... what fantastic group of images!!! And we have some 'series' that could be made into books of their own.

Most notably:
- Maru's weather shots - this last few of the 'tornado watch' are just amazing!
- jccj58's eagles!!! You had me watching the hatching of eagles online, but your own pictures of this other nest are just astonishing! I love the younglings jumping on the nest testing their skills... and they are as big or bigger than the adult ones!
- 04yellowf150's skies. That 'stacked' image of the milky way is just breathtaking! Notable images all around!
- Great seeing Al posting back, I've missed seeing your kids, great images.
- Welcome to all the newcomers!!! This is the place to be... hope to see lots of pictures from everyone.

Everyone else, sorry for not commenting individually... there are so many great images, from gepixelt or itzmered fantastic birds, to Annie's great dragonflies, Sue's great trip, to all the people shots around from birthday girls to street candids. Simply amazing! You have made me miss my picture taking. Not only am I strapped to the computer this days, but we have had the most rain we have had in 12 years! The only picture I have taken recently (literally shot 2 pictures) is of my keyboard to create a visual for a WEB page :) .

There's another issue I wanted to quickly comment on:

Carmen, I disagree... I believe at this point Vectoria needs as much shutter speed as possible! I would even suggest she'd use ISO1600 or even 3200 if that helps getting faster shutter speeds. Of course opening to f4 or faster could help also, but would make focusing a challenge.

Now, you asked Vectoria if she had the IS on, and she answered she did, but she does not have IS on that fantastic 70-200 f2.8L so I'm sorry to tell you both that you weren't using IS Vectoria , you can't. :)

Best regards all, I know I say it all the time, but I really miss you guys a lot!! See you all around,

Rafa

It was the best surprise of all this morning, to wake up and find a post from you. I know how busy you've been, and you have been sorely missed here. Take good care of you please.

:) Anne

I tried to find some. There are more pelicans around here than ducks right now though I did manage to find some anyway.

There are pelicans in Colorado???

What an eventful evening. I had to rush out of the house like a bat out of hell as soon as my wife got home from work and drive 20 miles in less than 15 minutes to get into position for this severe storm. It was worth it.

If you aren't into weather these may not be very interesting, but this was a significant storm that was dropping golf ball sized hail just a few miles away and it had a pretty nice rotating wall cloud (the funny cloud I was photographing) which is where tornadoes form. No tornado touched down while I was on it, but it did go on to trigger a tornado warning the next county over so I just missed it. :(

Looks like it was trying to form one! Nasty looking. Stay safe as you do this....and driving ;)

ISO - shutter speed

Vectoria wrote in post #12299011 (external link)
Last time I had it on on 200 and picture still blurr so maybe I will try 400 yes I did have the stabilizer on, I don't really ever shut it off. Thanks for your critisims:)

I always thought a higher ISO would allow for a higher speed, but only if you have to use it. If you have plenty of light there's no reason to raise it. Try aperture priority and a low ISO, and let the camera select the shutter speed. If it isn't high enough, then bump up the ISO and you'll see your speed increase. If I'm doing it wrong someone please tell me!

ETA - I just realized someone said she has a constant 2.8 lens, so I guess that makes AV priority kinda useless....Is that correct?

Hey guys! Just signed up for the forums today after googling "photography forums". I love the pictures I've seen posted so far. Gives me some motivation to go out and shoot as much as possible. I haven't uploaded many pics, but I'll see if I can find some that I like.

Little intro to me, I just recently got into photography; picked up the T2i after much research and deliberation and I'm very satisfied with my decision. I was pretty lost in the beginning, but after picking up a handy Intro to Digital Photography book, I think I'm making some good progress. I look forward to contributing to this forum, and this thread in particular, as well as learning as much as possible from everyone here. It's refreshing to see how welcoming and nice people are here.

-Rob

Welcome Rob...Great camera choice :D. Looking forward to some pics!
